POSITION TITLE: Mental Health Therapist (Bilingual, English/Spanish)

REPORTS TO: Director of Mental Health Services

WORK HOURS: 37.5 Hours Per Week

Position Summary

The Mental Health Therapist will be bilingual in Spanish and will provide culturally competent mental health services to children and adults who are experiencing varying levels of difficulties due to life situations or mental health concerns.  Therapist will complete diagnostic assessments and make recommendations appropriate mental health treatment. Therapist will work with individuals and their families in treatment to help them reach their therapeutic goals and reduce symptoms of distress and major mental illness.  The therapist will coordinate with other providers to help to provide high quality care.  Services will be offered in the office and virtually.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provide high quality, compassionate and ethical outpatient mental health therapy to clients as scheduled.
  2. Coordinate with mental health staff and other agency staff to provide high quality care to client.
  3. Participate in team meetings, clinical supervision and case consultation.
  4. As needed, participate in providing psychosocial skills groups and therapy groups to clients.
  5. Complete clinical documentation within expected timeframes within Carelogic (electronic health record).
  6. Actively participate as a positive member of the agency environment.
  7. Maintain good standing with the appropriate board and insurance entities.
  8. Complete all recommended continuing education requirements and agency trainings.
  9. Stay current with updated research and best practices.
  10. Be aware of community referral sources and refer when necessary.
  11. Secure client information per HIPAA standards.
  12. Abide by the agency’s policies and procedures.
  13. Uphold the agency’s mission statement.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned (including but not limited to completion of Social Security/Disability forms, authorization and billing forms, phone calls, and participating in case consultation meetings).

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:

  • Degree in counseling or social work
  • Fluency with oral and written English and Spanish
  • Proficient in utilization of computer-based medical records
  • Dependent license (LPC or LSW) in counseling or social work required

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Independent license (LPCC or LISW) in counseling or social work preferred
  • Experience in community behavioral health
  • Training or certification in evidenced based treatment modalities.
