WORK HOURS:  17-19 hours per week

Position Summary

The Receptionist will welcome guests and clients to Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio’s main office at MidPointe Tower. The Receptionist will be part of a team of individuals who cover the front desk and manage the main agency phone line throughout the work week, Monday thru Friday. This position will also assist with administrative duties and projects as assigned.  Typically this position will work 19 hours per week, scheduling to be determined based on needs and availability.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Welcome diverse guests, with various language needs, at the reception window with courtesy and kindness; help them connect with the person or program they are seeking.
  • Communicate effectively with various staff members across the agency to ensure clients and visitors are assisted in a timely manner.
  • Receive and sign for deliveries; call or inform the recipient of a delivery.
  • Answer the main agency phone number; transfer calls to agency personnel or refer callers to external resources.
  • Review agency voicemail regularly and forward calls to agency personnel or make call backs to connect people to appropriate resource.
  • Assist with the sorting and distribution of agency mail, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Understanding of basic computer and phone skills, for example, the ability to send and receive email and place, receive, and forward telephone calls.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3 or more years of experience in secretarial or receptionist work.
  • Knowledge and fluency in a language other than English, especially  French, Swahili or Arabic.

Work Environment:

Typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to meet the following physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment
  • Talk to other employees/clients and hear them;
  • See and be able to read, write, and interpret written documents
  • Occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
