The Senior Companion program is a Senior Corps program which Catholic Charities has administered since 1968.
We pair more than 60 senior volunteers a year with other seniors needing socialization, assistance with daily activities and transportation.
The program is a great way for seniors to have an impact on the lives of other seniors. The seniors in the program serve older adults living independently in the community with the goal of preserving independence. The senior volunteers also serve seniors in independent living facilities, as well as caregivers and developmentally disabled adults.
The benefit to both companion and volunteer is beyond measure.
Please consider becoming a Senior Companion volunteer.
There is some financial compensation for Senior Companions.
- 40 hours of paid orientation
- a stipend of $2.65/hour
- mileage reimbursement
- paid leave time
- paid in-service training each month.
