Millions of people in the United States are caring for a family member or friend who is chronically ill, disabled or elderly. Since 1996, the Caregiver Assistance Network (CAN) has provided resources so caregivers can learn how to take care of their family member or friend, as well as themselves, learning how to avoid isolation, burnout or illness.

This weekly program allows people living with dementia to engage in a music and movement program while their care partners attend a support group. Registration is required before attending for the first time. See our online calendar for locations, dates and times.
This evidence-based, six-week class teaches caregivers how to access resources, communicate effectively, manage emotions and reduce stress.
CAN offers periodic workshops on issues faced by caregivers, plus an annual caregiver retreat.
Caregivers are matched with a volunteer mentor who provides one-on-one support.

We do have a registration process and some of our groups have waiting lists. We ask that you call or email to check availability before attending a group for the first time. We can also help you decide which group is the right fit for you and best meets your needs.
Once you are registered with a group, you do not need to RSVP each time.

We are always looking for volunteers to facilitate support groups, teach Powerful Tools classes or serve as Peer Mentors or Kindred Companions. In coordination with the Order of Malta and the Cathedral Basilica St. Peter in Chains, the Catholic Charities’ Caregiver Assistance Network honors more than 80 Outstanding Caregivers each year at a Mass and reception in November.
